At Videoly, we not only promote collective creativity, but we also take the responsibility of handling your personal information very seriously. We ensure your data is handled securely and transparently.
This page outlines the privacy policy for the Videoly mobile app, detailing the information we collect, why it's collected, how we use it, and how you can manage your data.
Before we dive into the details of our privacy policy, here's a brief overview of Videoly:
*Videoly Service is intended for users aged 18 and older.
What Information Does Videoly Collect?
Videoly works by securely storing only the minimum required data on Google services, specifically Firebase Cloud Storage and Firebase Firestore. We use Google services exclusively for data handling, we will never share your data with any third parties and we do not store sensitive information such as passwords or credit/debit card details.
When users securely sign in with Google and Firebase Authentication, the following information is requested from Google and stored locally on the user's device:
Name
Email
Profile Picture URL
When users create a Videoly using the form on the mobile app, the following Videoly information is stored on Google's cloud:
Videoly ID
Videoly Name
Videoly Date
Videoly Time
Videoly Thumbnail Image
Videoly Type
Videoly Background Image
Association between Videoly ID and creator's email
As users accept Videoly invitations, data for association between the Videoly ID and the user's email is stored on Google's cloud.
When users join a Videoly, they create clips in real time. The media (text, audio, images, and videos) added to the clip is temporarily stored on Google’s cloud for the purpose of clip generation. This media is automatically deleted after 48 hours.
During real-time clip creation, certain clip room data is temporarily stored on Google’s real-time database. This data exists solely for clip generation and is automatically deleted once the clip is generated. The data is the following:
Room ID
Room Start Time
Users Profile Picture URLs
Users Added Media URLs
Clip Area State
The number of times a user can join a Videoly or a clip room are controlled by a quota per user per Videoly stored on Google's cloud. Also, the total number of users, clips and clip room users is controlled in a main room real time document.
Once the clip is generated, the clip is stored on Google's cloud and the real time room data is deleted. The clip media (text, audio, images and video) is deleted from the cloud after 48 hours.
When the Videoly ends, all the real time database documents are deleted and only the clips remain stored on Google's cloud. The clips are batch downloaded and the final Videoly is generated locally.
How Does Videoly Use Your Data?
When users sign in with Google, Videoly uses the user's email as an identifier to associate the user with their Videolys, which can be retrieved at login.
When users create a Videoly, the information related to the Videoly is stored to make it available to all users associated with that Videoly.
Similarly, media and clips uploaded by users are stored, along with their URLs, so they can be accessed and downloaded by all associated users.
Once the clip is generated, the real time database documents are deleted and the clip media (text, audio, images and video) is deleted after 48 hours. In the end all the generated clips are stored so the associated users can view them whenever they wish.
How Can You Manage Your Data?
Users can sign in to Videoly at any time to view their associated data. Users can edit data (such as Name, Date, Time, Thumbnail, and Background Images) for Videolys they own.
Users can delete a Videoly at any time. This deletes the association data between the user and the Videoly. If the Videoly is deleted by the owner, the Videoly data, thumbnail and quotas are deleted immediately and all the clips are deleted within 48 hours.
Users can export their data at any time. This export will include their local user data (Name, Email, and Profile Picture URL) along with the associated Videolys. If a user deletes all associated Videolys and logs out, no further information about that user will remain on Videoly.
Users can find instructions on how to delete all their data from Videoly

How Does Videoly Manage Your Data?
As mentioned earlier, Videoly securely stores editable, deletable, and exportable data on Google services. We do not store sensitive information and we do not share your information with any third parties, under any circumstances.
